Oil prices have recently risen, prompting central banks worldwide to turn more hawkish. Our Senior Corporate DealerPatrick Idquival visited ausbiz to discuss the topic further.
The Federal Reserve’s Powell, Barkin, and Bostic stated that an “extremely aggressive rate path is appropriate.” Patrick believes that the Fed will be more hawkish in the coming months, notably in May and June. In late 2022 or early 2023, Rehn, one of the ECB’s most dovish non-voting members, may begin hiking rates. Despite this, ECB President Lagarde avoided disclosing the ECB’s monetary policy stance; however, she stated that the Fed and the ECB would not proceed at the same pace.
